Scrum Task board gadget

There as been a taskboard gadget for Google Wave for a long time that we talked about in the Wave calendars first day.  The idea with this gadget was to make it simple to promote ideas between users and make then able to manage the project.

On MasteringWave we have produced a new Taskboard gadget, created in flex where there is spend some more time on the interface to make it look wave-y. The gadget lets you assign users to tasks and view which tasks are unassigned.

I have created a small video demonstrating how the gadget works.

To get access to the link, join our newsletter on the right menu then you will get a link to the gadget. (I need to make some tweeks before I can send it out but it should happen within a few days).

The taskboard gadget fits very well with our other scrum gadget the Wave Planning poker gadget. Do you think there are any tools missing to create a better scrum experience.

WaveCalendar 23: Windows Google Notifier

Lifehacker describes the new Goolge Wave desktop notifier. Lifehacker is linking to the old version, the new version has some improvements. Google Wave Notifier is an application you install on your desktop and then you get notified when you get a new Wave in your inbox.

It works really easy and all you have to do is to enter your wave user id and password. When you get a new wave you can update the link, just by pressing the optup which comes.

For me it seems to work much better than the Firefox notifier. So I’ll try to see how it works out.

I normally prefere not to get any messages when I receive any mails or tweets. I prefer to check them, when I got time and need a break in my projects.

WaveCalendar 22: Game of Life

Conway’s Game of Life is a small gadget which displays how the game of life works.
The XML is available hire.

The gadget is really good at illustrating how fast the states are update between each client. The video recored shows how fast the state is updated between two users of wave.

What is really interesting with the tool is that both users can add their images at the same time, but the images are not used in calculation/expansions before they are picked up by the playing side.

WaveCalender 16: Waveboarder

We already covered the WaveBoarder application, which is a helper application to Google Wave. The gadget makes it easier to navigate in Wave with the iphone and mean you only have one place where you can work with it. The gadget is available on itunes.

The video I created can be seen bellow.

I feel the application has been user friendly. If that is because HTML version for the iphone has been improved. But the whole experience works much better now. So it could actually be an application you can use for something useful.

WaveCalender 11: Napkin

Napkin(http://code.google.com/p/napkin-wave-gadget/) by Marcin Szczepanski of webqem, is cool gadget that was written in Adobe Flex. It allows you to do quick sketches and collaborative doodling.  It provides a canvas on which we can write some sketch designed for small teams or some other people that who just want to play with it. It is good for short descriptive planning or a fun game.

I have just tried it and try to make it useful, i try to create a simple usecase to try its usability, Look at what ive got:

Simple Student Registration Usecase

It was pretty simple and easy to use. Everyone can edit the canvass at the same time.  One downside of this gadget is the lack of an erase function. It would be better if the author can add it on his next release.
